Music:Leeds Jazz Festival Forum

The Wardrobe - Sunday 21st July, 1pm to 4pm

The Festival Forum is a chance for fans, musicians, producers, promoters and festival directors to share experiences, listen and network

There will be guests from visiting festival bands as well as fellow promoters, funders and more, so come and join in!

This event will be of interest to any artist or music professional interested in building audiences, marketing and accessing funding & artist development opportunities, regardless of genre


Panels include:

1.30pm - 2.20pm: Funding & Artist Development Opportunities
Featuring Will Lakin, Laura Jurd, Lesley Jackson, Chris Sharkey
- with artists who've received funding for recording and touring the UK, including achieving Mercury Music Prize nominations, this panel will look at the options for developing careers as artists and musicians and what organisations exist regionally and nationally, including Jazz North, Arts Council England and PRS Foundation.

2.40pm - 3.30pm: Marketing & Building an Audience
Featuring Maya Kally, Oliver Bentley, Scott Lewis
- whether playing live or releasing records, being able to tell your audience what you are doing and how great you are, is a key part in building a sustainable career as a musician and artist. With input from designers, artists and record labels, this panel will look at how to best plan to release music, tour and use social media and other tools.

Entry is free, and complimentary refreshments will be provided.

This event is part of Music:Leeds Launchpad series of music industry development events, providing opportunities and signposting for emerging artists in the region. Launchpad is funded using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, PRS Foundation and supported by Leeds City Council and Leeds 2023.
