Gender Equality

Music:Leeds has been established to support, promote, develop and grow music-based activity within the city across any level, medium, genre or pathway - and as such, removing barriers to participation and development underpins and is a key part of all our activity.

In order to increase and promote opportunities for women, non-binary and trans people within the city, we have convened a Gender Rebalance Equality Action & Advisory Team (G.R.E.A.A.T.) to help us support and shape activity in the city, with the following aims:

“To support, champion and make positive changes to gender equality and representation in Leeds’ diverse music scenes.

To signpost women, trans and non-binary music professionals and enthusiasts to relevant music events, training, opportunities and networks in Leeds and nationally.

To provide leadership and advice through mentoring, advocacy, events and more.”

The first initiatives to emerge from these conversations are:

a networking event for women, non-binary and trans people in music in collaboration with Girl Gang Leeds
a community page for women, non-binary and trans people in music in Leeds
a mentoring program for women, non-binary and trans people in music in Leeds
