freesetrio are a heavy triphop electronica post-punk band whose compositions explore inner demons and difficult truths; through twisted lyricism and layered sounds they create a dark beauty. Audiences are taken on a journey of self-reflection through darkness, and back out into the light, creating a mesmerising trance and encouraging the release of suppressed emotions. Their combination of hypnotic drum patterns, bold sub-bass riffs, dense eerie harmony and daring yet intricate vocals is what gives them their distinct sound.
freesetrio received a place on Manchester Jazz Festival’s Hothouse scheme in 2018; performed at both Manchester and Marsden Jazz Festivals; supported artists including Yazmin Lacey and Szun Waves; and in 2019 were awarded a place on Jazz North’s ‘Northernline’ scheme.
